Yesterday at work I was upset – just as my colleague Susan walked in to my office. “What is it?” she asked.
“It’s my iPod. I don’t use it for a few weeks and it’s dead. Dead, I tell you!”
I wouldn’t have found this so intensely annoying had Pancake and I not shlepped to the Genius Bar at the Apple store a few weeks ago with the same problem. They fixed it in about 10 seconds by holding down the Home button and the Power button at the same time. The 26 year-old Genius told me it was a surefire solution if it happened again.
Now it’s happened again and I spent most of Monday pressing these two buttons like it was about to sprout into an ATM machine and begin spitting hundreds at me. Guess what? IT DIDN’T WORK.
However, Susan then told me that the real reason the iPod’s no responding is because Mercury is in retrograde and I shouldn’t even think of trying to turn it on again till it goes direct tomorrow. Meanwhile, I am sitting here glaring at this thing and cursing it. Will it begin tomorrow? Who knows.
I just tried to get an image of an iPod to add to this post. Big Surprise – it’s not uploading!
